Need an active direct box for connecting instruments to balanced microphone inputs?
The Radial J48 is an active direct box designed to convert instrument-level signals into balanced mic-level signals. It operates using standard 48V phantom power supplied from a mixer, audio interface, or microphone preamp. The unit features a balanced XLR output with 600-ohm impedance and a parallel 1/4-inch thru output for connection to an amplifier.
The J48 includes a selectable −15 dB input pad for high-level signal sources and an 80 Hz high-pass filter for reducing low-frequency content. A polarity reverse switch allows phase adjustment. The merge function combines the input and thru signals into a mono output signal.
The unit features a steel enclosure with welded construction and a protective outer frame. The J48 connects using standard instrument and XLR cables and is designed for use with guitars, basses, keyboards, and other instrument-level audio sources.
