Razer Kaira Pro: Commissioning

The Razer Kaira Pro comes with an easy-to-understand manual. Nevertheless, we would like to briefly explain to you how you put the gaming headset into operation. First, you need to charge the headset fully. This process took us about 2 hours. Then you have to update the firmware – this is also indicated by a larger label attached to the headset.

Updating is quick and easy, for example, using a PC or laptop. Connect the Kaira Pro with the USB cable that comes with the equipment and enter the link given on the label.

Once the Razer Kaira Pro is charged and updated, you can start. But, first, if you want to connect it to the Xbox:

  1. Leave the headset off for now.
  2. Turn on the Xbox and press the Connect button on the console.
  3. Activate the headset and pairing mode by pressing and holding the power button on the left auricle. You can recognize the pairing process by the flashing Razer logos on the ear cups.

The same procedure applies to connecting to the Xbox wireless adapter for the PC.

If you want to connect the Kaira Pro to an Android-based smartphone or other device or a PC for listening to music or making calls, first activate the Bluetooth on the device. Then start pairing by switching on and holding down the power button for a long time or via the Bluetooth / multifunction button on the right auricle. You can recognize pairing and the connection with a “mobile device” because the status indicator lights up blue (instead of green when connected to the Xbox / Xbox wireless adapter).

The exchange between different devices, such as Xbox and PC or smartphone, you accomplish with the EQ / Xbox pairing button on the right earpiece. Hold it down and wait until the signal tone sounds – the Kaira Pro is now connected to the other device. You can read which button is where below under the control elements!

Razer Kaira Pro: sound quality and microphone

In general, the Kaira Pro is convincing in terms of sound all along the line. When gaming and listening to music, the headset delivers a clear and detailed sound and – depending on the sound profile – is well-balanced to robust bass. Only at extremely high volume can the bass sound a bit too crackling and the treble clink easily – but we are talking about a volume that is not recommended for long-term listening anyway if the health of the ears is to be preserved.

The Razer Kaira Pro has three preset EQ sound profiles as standard. The fourth slot is reserved for the custom profile, which the user can set individually via the app if he wants. These profiles can quickly and easily double-press the EQ, and Xbox pairing button on the right earpiece by changed are:

  • Default: Clear, harmonious sound with well-balanced bass and fine highs
  • Bass Boost: The focus here is on powerful bass – great profile for epic instrumental soundtracks and electronics
  • FPS: Deeply dulled bass for crystal-clear sound, which should enable every ambient noise to be perceived in the game

Custom: Here, the user can create his profile via the app

HyperClear Supercardioid – the super-cardioid for gaming

The microphone is a Razer HyperClear Supercardioid. This means: The microphone, which is surrounded by a removable foam pop screen, has a “supercardioid” directional characteristic, so it is almost exclusively noises coming from in front of the microphone that is picked up. This ensures that ambient noises or the clicking of the keyboard are transmitted little or not at all by the microphone – ideal for gaming. The voice quality is perfect and very clear – both in voice chats and when telephoning. There is a switch on the left auricle that deactivates the microphone. The app also offers further calibration options for the microphone. The microphone is flexible and removable – if you want to enjoy music or play alone, you can bend it away from your face or remove it completely.

Razer Kaira Pro: Comfort

With a weight of around 330 g, the Razer Kaira Pro is one of the lighter gaming headsets. Accordingly, it sits comfortably on the head for several hours without noticeably straining it. The earpads are made of Flowknit with memory foam. That means: The foam in the earpad adapts to the shape of the wearer’s head and maintains this shape. The cover is made of fabric, particularly pleasant at higher room temperatures or heated battles, as it does not stick to the head with sweat. The earpads of the over-ear headphones also have a cooling effect. The hot ears stayed away even after several hours. At the upper end of the bracket, where it rests on top of the head, foam and fabric cover are also used – this ensures that there is no uncomfortable pressure.

Razer Headset Setup for Xbox App

The Razer Headset Setup for the Xbox app allows the user to make a few more settings on the gaming headset. This includes extensive microphone settings, its EQ profile, and individualization of the Chroma RGB lighting on the ear cups. The app is easy and intuitive to use. It is also important that the app and the settings there are not necessary to use the Kaira Pro meaningfully. The microphone is well adjusted from the start. The existing EQ profiles are also completely sufficient if you don’t have very special ideas and wishes. The Razer logos on the ear cups show a calm color change by default.

If you want to use the app, the following is important: It can only be used if it runs via the Xbox or PC – and here explicitly only when the Kaira Pro is connected via the Xbox wireless adapter. If you don’t have an Xbox wireless adapter, you can update the Kaira Pro via your PC / laptop. Still, the app cannot be used as the gaming headset is connected to the normal Bluetooth connection (if the PC / laptop is a mobile device) the app is not recognized.

Controls

Everything that you could want to adjust or change quickly while gaming is housed on the two ear cups. For example, the volume balance between game sound and chat can be calibrated with the wheel on the right edge (C), the microphone on the left is switched on and off (M), and the general volume (L) is adjusted. With the EQ button (D), you can quickly switch through the different sound profiles with a double click. The status indicator (K) lights up green when connected to the Xbox or via the Xbox wireless adapter, blue when connected to a mobile device. If it flashes, the headset is in pairing mode.

Battery life

If the Razer Kaira Pro is fully discharged, it will take about 4 hours to charge again fully. If so, the battery lasts around 15 hours when the RGB lighting is activated. With the lights switched off, you gain about five more hours of battery life and are then around 20 hours. In other words: even on really hard days, the Kaira Pro stays with you and does its job.

Conclusion

The Razer Kaira Pro is a high-quality and super-comfortable gaming headset with impressive sound quality. It provides the user with an appealing audio experience while gaming as well as listening to music. The app also offers quick and great setting options for sound and RGB lovers. However, it is important that the Kaira Pro is specifically intended for Xbox users or owners of the Game Pass and the Xbox wireless adapter and that the app can only be used then.
