PreSonus Eris E4.5 BT speakers review
PreSonus knows that what is essential for speakers is a great sound. And they build theirs to deliver it. They made PreSonus Eris E4.5 BT provide great sound at an affordable cost. After all, PreSonus is an international brand, present in the business since 1995, spreading that idea.
- Good build quality
- Versatile and flexible
- Amazing tone
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Frequency control panel
- Shaky quality control
- The bass response can’t match more prominent speakers
PreSonus Eris E4.5 BT are solid speakers build from standard MDF, and they have a neutral design. The height is 9.45 inches, and the width is 6.42 inches. They are very lightweight (about 6.4pounds per pair), but that doesn’t mean they are poorly constructed.
The engineers managed to avoid the isolation by minimizing the resonance at lower frequencies, so when you place the speakers on a desk, the surface doesn’t build up more bass.
Each speaker has a 1-inch silk dome tweeter and a 4.5-inch woven composite woofer. The speakers don’t have grilles, although the tweeters have integrated mini grille.
As mentioned earlier, PreSonus Eris E4.5 BT have a neutral design which helps them integrate with any home interior. They have a dark gray finish, look clean and pretty, with recognizable blue PreSonus logos on each unit.
The left speaker is the active one, housing the 25 wats per channel amplifier and all the other connectors and controls that go with it. The right speaker, as passive, is more straightforward.
The speakers reproduce frequencies from 70 Hz to 20 kHz, the range of a human’s hearing.
There is a power on/off switch, volume control, headphone jack, and aux input on the left speaker’s front.
When you look at the left speaker’s back, there are controls for the low and high frequencies that you can turn up or down for a 6 dB. These controls come in handy when tuning the PreSonus Eris E4.5 BT according to your environment. The pairing button for the Bluetooth 5.0 is also there, allowing you to connect the speakers with other smart devices. Interestingly, you can find Eris E4.5 without the Bluetooth built-in. They are the same speakers, without the Bluetooth option for a lower price.
From the inputs, there are RCA, quarter-inch TRS, and a 3.5 mm jack. There is also a connection for the passive speaker, for which PreSonus has provided a four-foot cord.
Eris 4.5 has Acoustic Space control that can tighten frequency response if that is necessary.
Sound quality of PreSonus Eris E4.5 BT
Eris E4.5s are two-way speakers with a Class A/B amplifier that delivers 50 watts in total. When you see the 4.5-inch woofer, you might be skeptical about the sound, but trust me, you are in for a surprise. This member of the Eris series is probably the most well-rounded and delivers a mean punch. PreSonus Eris E4.5 BT has a fantastic sound, maybe with too much bass, but that can easily tune down or up, according to anyone’s taste with the acoustic controls on the back. These speakers are flexible and quite versatile.
If by any chance, you work in a cramped space, these monitors will provide excellent performance. Power output is perfect for a home studio by being well-balanced. They offer a joyful experience no matter if you are a beginner or an advanced user, staying by your side every step of your evolution.
The mid-range is a bit light but still pleasant, without tiring your ears over a particular time of listening. They allow you to hear all the instruments and sound, just as they are supposed to.
The only setback of PreSonus Eris E4.5 BT might be the high low-end limit. Most of the cases produce a decent amount of bass, but sometimes it is not enough.
If you use these speakers for studio mixing, it is advisable to incorporate your high-pass filters.
Depending on your taste, you can leave the EQ neutral or change the highs and lows up and down to distinguish individual instruments better.
If you plan to have a party, the sound will be much better if you add a subwoofer, whether from the PreSonus’s subwoofer offer or some other manufacturer.
PreSonus Eris E4.5 BT, no matter with or without Bluetooth, is a perfect choice for a small room. It is pretty capable of filling the space with sound without breaking your wallet. They are also an excellent choice for a home video or audio studio. These speakers are for people who love to listen to music all the time, for game addicts, content creators, and audio engineers eager to hear every single detail of the sounds.
