Construction and scope of delivery of the 1MORE True Wireless ANC In-Ears

At first glance, the design of the 1MORE True Wireless ANC in-ear headphones is almost like one egg to the other. But the new model is no longer available in various color variants, but only in black with a housing exterior in a glossy carbon look. The manufacturer also relies again on the ergonomic ear outlets, inclined at a 45º angle, and the multifunctional push button with Accidental Launch Protective System (ALPS).

Only at a second glance do you notice other newly added features such as the fade-proof triple charging contacts with rhodium coating and the wearing sensors on the inside of the receiver, as well as additional microphones. In addition, the plastic charging case, which was still oval-shaped in the previous model, has given way to an elongated charging case with rounded edges in the ANC model tested here. The new, improved case also impresses with its stylish metallic aluminum alloy, non-slip underside, USB-C charging port, and Qi compatibility – and thus looks significantly more valuable than the previous one.

The subject is also of high quality inside. The hybrid earphones with dual drivers are equipped with the 1MORE patented Balanced Armature Driver (BA driver) for high frequencies and a dynamic 10-centimeter titanium composite driver responsible for the bass. As usual from 1MORE, both transducers are professionally tuned and calibrated separately by the four-time Grammy award-winning sound engineer Luca Bignardi to achieve the most precise and original sound possible.

And so that this sound goes into every ear, 1MORE has the TWS in-ear headphones with ANC not only the said charging case including USB-C charging cable, but also six pairs of silicone ear tips in different sizes and three pairs of ear fins in different sizes attached. This 1MORE handset also comes with a transport bag, operating instructions, and a guarantee card as standard. With all this, it is immediately noticeable that both the packaging design and the receiver and its accessories look and feel like a real quality upgrade to the predecessor – and thus leave a truly successful first impression.

Bluetooth, battery, and functionality

The 1MORE True Wireless ANC In-Ears come with Bluetooth 5.0, support the audio codecs aptX, AAC, and SBC, and the wireless profiles A2DP, AVRCP, and HFP – and thus achieve a wireless range similar to that of their predecessors. Similar to the JBL REFLECT FLOW or the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1, the connection to mobile players with the second TWS headphones from 1MORE is child’s play by automatically switching on and pairing when removing the receiver from the charging case.

In addition, the listener can master a hybrid Active Noise Canceling (ANC) with feedforward/feedback technology, thanks to which ambient and in-ear noises are effectively suppressed. A dedicated Hi-Res DSP (digital signal processor) analyzes and adjusts the sound waves in real-time to deliver a balanced and natural sound in all four operating modes that can be selected using the touch sensor on the receiver. In addition, the test candidate has ENC microphone technology with a dual microphone for crystal-clear phone calls onboard.

The charging case houses a 410 mAh battery with a fast charge function, thanks to which the empty 1MORE True Wireless ANC in-ear headphones can play two hours of music again after 15 minutes if things have to go fast. Users of a corresponding charging pad can also look forward to the Qi compatibility of their 1MORE earphones and thus recharge them completely wirelessly. Of course, charging also works conventionally with the supplied USB-C cable. In just one hour, the user of a completely discharged 1MORE True Wireless ANC should then have the full battery capacity available again – a reduction of a third compared to its predecessor. In wireless mode, according to 1MORE, the test subject can also achieve five hours of wireless playback with the ANC switched off and four hours with ANC use at half volume and operation in the AAC codec, as well as a total of a maximum of 18 hours of mileage using multiple charging in the charging case.

What the “Stylish True Wireless In-Ear Headphones” need a firmware update for, the successor already masters from the start: The 1MORE True Wireless ANC also has the “TrueWireless Stereo Plus” compatibility of newer Android smartphones. The signal from the smartphone is sent directly to both earphones simultaneously to avoid the “master” / “slave” problem and save electricity. Using TWS +, the test candidate can achieve up to six hours without and five hours with ANC use. This means that up to 22 hours are possible via the charging case – decent values. However, some competitors like Melomania 1 (up to 45 hours in total) have a clear lead here.

Furthermore, the ANC earphones from 1MORE are compatible with the voice assistants Google Assistant and Siri. Last but not least, the integrated infrared sensor with the “Auto Pause & Play” function is also worth mentioning, thanks to which the listeners automatically stop the music when they are removed from their ears and continue it at the push of a button when they are reinserted.

1MORE’s truly wireless headphones with ANC in practice

At eight grams per listener, the 1MORE True Wireless ANC In-Ears offered a similarly comfortable wearing experience as their predecessors, even during listening sessions lasting several hours, and even less heavy models from other manufacturers such as the Melomania as mentioned above one or the Lypertek TEVI stood out in terms of wearing comfort. Furthermore, thanks to their flexible silicone fins and ear molds in various sizes, the test candidate sat securely and firmly in the ear of different test subjects at all times without exerting uncomfortable pressure on the inner ear. The high-quality metal charging case, in turn, matches is more expensive top model Technics EAH-AZ70Wwhich, in contrast to the test candidate, does not have a non-slip underside in any way.

The test subject’s handling was also very pleasant in the practical test: The earphone buttons gave the user control over music playback, volume, voice assistant, and telephone calls – and can also be individually assigned using the “1MORE MUSIC” app. In addition, their clever positioning on the upper edge of each earpiece has proven to be quite practical in practice, as it can be found intuitively and quickly and is very easy to use – including a pleasant pressure point and good response.

Only the touch sensor on the receiver – this allows you to choose between two differently strong ANC levels (“ANC Level 1”, “ANC Level 2”), the “Pass-Through” mode and “ANC Off” – sit down again, not every touch command directly, which one or the other user may perceive as a real shortcoming. However, in the practical test, we proceeded according to the motto “then just try again” and do not count this as a major minus point for the 1MORE True Wireless ANC – especially since all ANC modes ultimately worked perfectly and efficiently.

In practice, the ANC headphones from 1MORE also achieved the officially stated ten-meter Bluetooth range without any problems, and sometimes eleven to 13 meters were possible when the track was “clear.” Moreover, the manufacturer’s information on wireless playback and loading times could also be achieved fairly precisely in the practical test. In addition, the 1MORE welcome jingle and easily understandable voice announcements such as “Pairing,” “Connected,” or “Battery Low – please charge,” as well as LED indicator lights on the earphones and charging case, made by the manufacturer’s well-known English female voice, round off a well-rounded package.

This is what the 1MORE EHD9001TA sound like

Before the hearing test, the 1MORE True Wireless ANC in-ear headphones also had an appropriately long burn-in phase in front of the chest. Then the test candidate was allowed to launch its sound quality on various digital audio players from the mini DAP FiiO M5 to the compact HiBy R3 Pro, the Pioneer XDP-300R, and FiiO M11 to our reference DAP iBasso DX220. And, so much has to be anticipated at this point: They have it all … This is how the true wireless headphones tested here shone in our hearing test with previously unexpected sound quality, including crystal-clear, detailed, naturally-balanced and pleasantly warm sound, which was not impaired even when noise canceling was switched on.

The listeners were convinced, for example, in the Billie Eilish hit “Bad Guy” with a lot of depth, delivered cleanly contoured basses with a powerful punch, and proved to be powerful supporters of deep pop and R&B music. All in all, they sounded a little rounder and more natural than the TWS sports model JBL REFLECT FLOW, which is also powerful in the low-frequency range, for example. The test candidate also cut a good figure in the rock area with the basses: For instance, he pointedly played the bass drum when entering and exiting the Toto classic “Africa.” And the 1MORE True Wireless ANC In-Ears even have double bass traces from various jazz pieces, as they impressively demonstrated in the listening test.

Despite the slightly emphasized bass range, the overall picture with the test subject never sounded unbalanced or inconsistent. On the contrary: The ANC-TWS model from 1MORE gave the lower mids the necessary body, generally scored with a fine middle resolution, and left it at that plenty of room for details, for example, in Mumford & Sons hit song “Little Lion Man” or jazz material like Max. Bab’s “Tricycle.” In addition, when getting in and out of the Toto mentioned above hit, the test person also depicted the cowbells sounding in the background cleanly and authentically. In addition, 1MORE’s second TWS listener had no problems even with high voices like that of Toto singer Bobby Kimball or world star Whitney Houston, but reproduced them just as confidently as the saxophone solo from Foreigner’s “Urgent.”

Furthermore, the test candidate brought out reverberations like in the song “Memories” by Maroon 5 and did not have a particularly difficult time with fast impulse sequences of audiophile material like “La vie devant soi” by Renaud Garcia-Fons. The reverberation rooms with the 1MORE True Wireless ANC also came into their own with the last-mentioned piece. In addition, thanks to its unexpectedly transparent and three-dimensional appearance on the stage and its no less convincing dynamic behavior, it also stood out in the listening test as a suitable mobile headphone for playing classic and live material.

Quite as wide a leap as the prices suggested, it is from the 1MORE handset tested here to the top models in the true wireless category – the Sony WF-1000XM3, the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless, the Technics EAH-AZ70W, and the Master & Dynamic MW07 – at least not in terms of sound technology.

With the 1MORE True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones EHD9001TA, the audio manufacturer has released a successor to its “Stylish True Wireless In-Ear Headphones,” which has been improved in almost all areas: The already high wearing comfort of the predecessor has been retained, the design has been refined, But above all, the sound quality has been significantly optimized on all levels – and there’s ANC on top of that. 1MORE has already done a lot right here and is now presenting a second TWS model at twice the price, which is justified given the quality – a recommendable purchase for everyone who values high sound quality on the go.
